Part-Time Special Education Classroom Teacher
The Soulard School is seeking a part-time Special Education Teacher to join our charter elementary school for the 2024-25 school year. This position will service students in K-5th grade using a blend of push-in and pull-out instruction and support. This is a part-time, hourly position up to 29 hours per week. Set weekly schedule to be agreed upon between school and teacher. We are also interviewing for a full-time special education position.

Major Responsibilities of Special Education Teacher
- Provides specialized instruction in the areas of academics, behaviors related to learning, and behavioral/social-emotional.
- Ensures compliance for all Individual Education Plans (IEP) on his/her caseload.
- Maintains accurate student data and reports progress on IEP goals in a timely manner and in accordance with every student’s IEP.
- Works collaboratively with the school counselor and staff to build proactive measures for student support including tiered interventions for academic and behavioral/social-emotional needs.
- Provides strategies to classroom teachers/staff in order for all students to be successful in the general education setting.
- Works collaboratively with classroom teachers in order to provide differentiated instruction/lesson plans to meet the needs of all students.
- Continually participates in professional development in order to enhance the learning experience of the students he/she serves.
- Has knowledge and understanding of students’ rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
- Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with families, as well as strong communication between home and school.
- Attend school events as specified in contract.
- Develop positive relationships with colleagues and peers.
- A college degree in elementary education and/or special education K-12 (required).
- Missouri state teacher certification in special education (required).
- Warm and supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families.
- Reliable in attendance.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Physically able to perform the job of a teacher of young children.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
