Job Description:
The Cape Girardeau Public School District is seeking a Head Wrestling Coach for Cape Central Junior High School for the 2024-25 academic year.
This position is in charge of the day to day operations of the program to which they are assigned with the support and direction provided by the High School Head Coach.
Junior High Head Coach- Minimum Requirements:
This position is not tied to a specific teaching position. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Cape Girardeau Public School District is seeking a Head Wrestling Coach for Cape Central Junior High School for the 2024-25 academic year.
This position is in charge of the day to day operations of the program to which they are assigned with the support and direction provided by the High School Head Coach.
Junior High Head Coach- Minimum Requirements:
- A Four-Year College Degree OR Serving as an Approved Assistant Coach (non-Hardship Coach) for a minimum of TWO school years.
- A Professional Teacher's Certificate OR NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course (online) passed prior to This course is not sport-specific. This is a one-time requirement.
- Successful completion of a Sports First Aid/CPR/AED training course prior to coaching and renewed every two years.
- Background Check including Sex-Offender's Registry Clearance prior to
- Board of Education or Board of Governance Approval prior to
- Successful completion of a Concussion in Sports and review of current concussion information yearly.
- Successful completion of the MSHSAA Sport-Specific Online Rules Review each season.
- Successful completion of a Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Training prior to approval and renewed every two years.
- Successful completion of a course in Heat Illness Prevision/Recognition, which must be renewed every two years.
- Possesses a strong working knowledge of the rules and regulations of the game
- Teaches individual athletes the skills necessary to perform at the highest levels and coaches student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition.
- Maintains team discipline and sportsmanship in both practice and competition, while motivating student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
- Possess knowledge of all rules and regulations promoted by the Missouri High School Activities Association
- Maintains adequate supervision to assure the safety and well-being of all athletes
- Promotes and supports a yearlong strength and conditioning program at the junior high in collaboration with the junior high strength and conditioning coordinator.
- Works directly with the high school head coach to enhance the development of youth athletic programing within your sport, including but not limited to camps and community activities that promote the sport.
- Works directly with the high school head coach to develop a plan to involve student athletes in community service projects
