Job Description:
The YWCA Head Start Program is seeking candidates for Teacher Assistant positions. Duties include:
?Creates a safe and healthy learning environment.
?Supports growth of children?s overall social competence by providing appropriate and supportive guidance to children?s interactions with the environment, including modeling, facilitating and supporting positive child-child, and adult-adult interactions; and by assisting in planning, developing and implementing classroom activities.
?Collaborates with teacher to operate a classroom based on individualization. Conduct on-going observations, recordings, and evaluations of each child?s growth and development for the purpose of planning activities to suit individual needs.
?Acts as a liaison between the parent and the child; supporting the child?s relationship with her/his family; supports parent involvement in the program.
?Works to ensure an effective, well run, comprehensive, family empowering program.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates are required to have an associate?s degree in Early Childhood Education, or an associate?s degree in a related field* and 10+ classes in Early Childhood Education?. Prefer one year teaching experience working with infants & toddlers.
