Prevention Specialists
Job Description:
Prevention Specialists present substance abuse and violence prevention programs to youth by implementing classroom curriculum, providing teen leadership trainings, and facilitating skills groups for students needing more targeted skill development. Degree plus experience teaching or with youth required.
Responsibilities Include:
- Learning about prevention research as well as alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and violence.
- Teaching drug-specific and resiliency skills lessons to students in classrooms, K-12.
- Facilitating small groups of students needing assistance with specific life skills.
- Assisting with faculty and parent workshops.
- Working cooperatively and with accountability in a team setting.
Applicants Should:
- Have experience teaching or training youth.
- Have a bachelors or masters degree, preferably in a related area such as education/social service/psychology.
- Have a track record that demonstrates a strong work ethic.
- Be skilled in engaging groups.
- Have strong public relations and leadership skills.
- Be able to take initiative and work independently.
